UNIVERSITIES FOR MBBS FROM CHINA IN ENGLISH MEDIUM

 In all over China, the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) Degree courses have been always taught in Chinese medium. It was ONLY from 2004, that the Chinese Government and the Ministry of Education of China (MoE) allowed few of the universities to impart this medical degree course in English medium. In simple words, China is always well known for its Chinese medicine and traditional Chinese medicine around the world. So basically MBBS in English medium was never a forte of the Chinese Medical Education.

Direct admission

Since 2010-2011, visiting to study medicine in China was becoming very popular among the students in Asian countries, so to invite more international students, MoE allowed few more medical universities to impart MBBS in English education. By the year of 2014-2015, MoE officially approved 45 medical universities in China to impart MBBS course in English medium for international students. However many local agents from India and some of the lesser known medical colleges in China started the concept of bilingual courses, where they misguided the students by saying that they will have MBBS education in English as well as in Chinese medium. Whereas in the first year, the students would study in Chinese language and then from second year they would have normal English medium classes. Most of the students from India would prefer this only because these medical colleges have very low fees compared to the English teaching MBBS universities.

Since last couple of years, many Indian students faced problems in such kind of bilingual medical course universities and had complained to the Indian Embassy in China. This is the major reason MoE had to publicly declare a statement to the Indian Embassy about the 45 listed medical universities which are approved to teach MBBS education in English medium.

In China, MBBS is either in English medium OR in Chinese Medium and the other English medium course is Clinical Integrative Medicine, which includes Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine.

So now if any Indian students wish to study medicine in China in English medium, then they have to MAKE SURE to get admissions ONLY in the 45 listed medical universities of China which ranges from 3 lakhs to 8 lakhs fees per year. If any local agent guides you for any other medical universities except these 45 listed universities, you will NOT be able to appear for the FMGE Examination which is held by Medical Council of India.
